Ten 02 Challenge
Does your church have room for a few more disciples? Is there anyone in your community that does not know the saving grace of Christ Jesus? Have you ever met anyone struggling to make sense of their life, who was trying to go it alone? Of course, the answer to all of these questions is YES.
I know in my church there are empty chairs in worship on Sunday morning, we have less than 50 percent of those who fill those chairs involved in Bible Study. We can make room for a few more disciples. The county in which I serve has more than 6,000 souls that claim no religious affiliation at all. In most of our state, there is 1 mental health professional for every 1000 people, there are many people struggling to make sense of life. so YES the answer to the questions is a resounding YES.
I also know that your county, your city, your community, and your church are no different than mine. So it is time for action. I am a huge believer in the power of prayer to change lives. I also know that we need more people not only praying but going out into the fields which Jesus describes as ready for harvest. This fall it was a struggle for many farmers in our area to get their crops in from the field, rain, early snow, freeze, and more challenged them yet again. I also know that many when they finished with their harvest went to help a neighbor, but even this was not enough. So it is with the church, there are 8 Christian congregations within 2 miles of my church, but the workers are few…
Luke 10:2 (ESV) 2 And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
In Luke 10:02 Jesus asks his disciples to “pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” This is where the Ten 'O Two Challenge comes in. Set an alarm on the phone, or smartwatch for 10:02 AM each day and stop whatever you are doing at that moment and pray to the Lord of the Harvest. I have had many people join me, as they are near me when my alarm goes off. My ringtone for my alarm is the chorus from Steven Curtis Chapmans “Let Us Pray”
“Let us pray, let us pray, everywhere in every way Every moment of the day, it is the right time For the Father above, He is listening with love And He wants to answer us, so let us pray”
Come on set your watch, or ask a 12-year-old standing near you to help you set your alarm to ring at 10:02 and let us storm the gates of heaven with prayers to the Lord of The Harvest.
