It's a Marathon

Many times we think of the Christian life as a sprint. We want our prayers to be answered before we finish praying. We expect a six-week Bible Study to tell us everything we need to know about being at peace with God. We send our children to confirmation, convinced that they have learned all they need to know and that we have done our job in the faith life of our children.

But I hate to burst all your bubbles; the Christian faith is not a sprint; it is a Marathon, sore muscles and all. Our Christian faith journey was never forecast to be a straight line on level ground. I know of a sixty-one-year-old potato farmer named Cliff Young who could teach us all about Marathons.
